Day 1: Hanoi – Maichau – Puluong park (-/L/D)
Meet our guide at your hotel in Hanoi.
Depart for Pu Luong Natural Reserve. This scenic drive takes around four hours. Along the way we pass fields of tapioca and sugar cane as well as rice paddies. Following lunch in Poom Coong village we drive further into the reserve where we begin our trek. We trek for approximately three hours before arriving at the Thai village of Hang.
We spend the night with a local Thai family who will be our host in a traditional house on stilts. Whilst enjoying their hospitality we will discover a little more about their lives and culture.

Day 2: Trekking from Hang village to Kho Muong village (B/L/D)
Today we will walk for about six hours. Along the way we pass through several Thai villages and hamlets before arriving at the village of Kho Muong. As the name suggests this is a Muong minority village and we will be their guests for the night.

Day 3: Pu Luong - Hang Kia Village (B/L/D)
Morning hike to explore a recently discovered and fascinating cave. Trek downhill all the way today, on a local footpath that contours the valley sides and passes through many villages. Arrive at the nature reserve’s only market where your lunch will be provided in a local house.
We drive to the H’mong village of Xa Linh from where we start our 3-hour trek to the village of Hang Kia, situated in a picturesque valley of peach orchards. Overnight in H’mong village.

Day 4: Hang Kia village - Van village (B/L/D)
After having breakfast served by H’mong people. We start our trek through tropical rain forest, using the local tracks and passing through cornfields as we descend in to Mai Chau Valley. The trek usually takes around 7 hours and is quite steep in places. Lunch will be provided en route. Then, we continue our trek through Thai hamlets and green rice fields and arrive at Van village by late afternoon. The village is home to the Thai people, and tonight we will be their guests in one of their traditional stilt houses.

Day 5: Van village - Lac village (B/L/D)
After breakfast we spend the morning strolling around the surrounding villages and meeting villagers along the way. After a morning’s exploring we will return to Van village for lunch. With lunch finished there will time for a stroll down to the river before embarking on a 3 hour walk to LAC village
We have the afternoon free to wander around the picturesque Thai villages or maybe wander into Mai Chau town itself. This evening is spent in Lac village.

Day 6: Mai Chau valley – Hanoi (B/L/-)
We return to Hanoi today. On the way, we visit Thay and Tay Phuong pagodas where we will find the wonderful collection of statues of Buddha.
